Quincy University’s Music Department Symphonic Band, in partnership with the Quincy Public Library, will present a program of music by African American composers and music featuring African American themes and influences on March 1, 2020, at 3:00 p.m. in the Connie Niemann Center for Music (17th & Seminary Road).

The Quincy Public Library will be hosting a Big Read program for the month of February featuring the book “A Lesson Before Dying” by Ernest J. Gaines. Themes from the book will be presented and explored as part of the concert in between various musical offerings by the band.  The QU Symphonic Band is under the direction of Assistant Professor of Music Bill Machold.
