Quincy University has received funding through the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF).  This funding is authorized by three separate laws to provide direct emergency checks or direct deposit grants to college students whose lives and educations have been disrupted by the coronavirus outbreak. These are the laws that authorized the funding:

• Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act – Law passed in March 2020
• Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act (CRRSAA) – Law passed in December 2020
• American Rescue Plan (ARP) – Law passed in March 2021

QU gave priority consideration in its awarding of aid to students who had filed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and had demonstrated exceptional need as determined by the university’s Office of Financial aid. Student awards were based on guidance provided by the U.S. Department of Education at the time of each law’s passage and were intended to cover expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to coronavirus. This includes, but is not limited to, eligible expenses of a student’s cost of attendance, such as food, housing, course materials, technology, health care, and child care expenses.
