The Quincy University Retired Faculty-Staff Association recently elected officers and executive committee members for their 2023-2024 year.

Elected officers include Kevin Steinkamp, president; Mike Smith, president elect; Mary Ann Klein, secretary; and Pat Laytham, treasurer. Members at large are Joanne Ortwerth, Joe Messina, Jean Green and Joe Newkirk.  Fr. Joe Zimmerman, OFM, is immediate past president. Paul Brown is factotum, and Matt Bergman is university liaison.

The association meets quarterly for lunch where members of university senior management update retirees on significant university happenings. The association provides educational bus trips and participates in the annual Quincy Public Library “Big Read” program.

Members assist various university entities such as the Mart Heinen Athletic Booster Club and Brenner Library and contribute to university activities such as homecoming and graduation.

The association established the Quincy University Retired Faculty-Staff Endowed Scholarship Fund in 2010 in recognition of the 150th Anniversary of the founding of the University.  Established to help students while also honoring retired faculty and staff of the university, the scholarship provides an opportunity for individuals to give a memorial gift in honor of a retired faculty, staff, loved one or friend.

QU’s Retired Faculty-Staff Association is open to all retired persons and spouses, lay and Franciscan,  who have been full-time or part-time employees of Quincy University. All individuals who worked at QU any time during their careers, regardless of where they worked when they retired, are eligible to participate.
