As a part of its Franciscan mission to serve others, Quincy University is hosting its second annual day of service on Wednesday, October 5th, 2016. Students, faculty, staff and alumni will be giving back by doing various service projects for the campus and more than twenty non-profit organizations throughout the Quincy community. Administrative offices will remain open from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and again from 1:30 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Classes however, are cancelled for the duration of the day. The University is currently seeking service projects from qualified organizations or individuals. Please contact Dr. Megan Boccardi at 217-228-5432 ext. 3031 to sign up.

In addition, Quincy University is asking members of the community to participate in a QU & You Food Drive benefiting area food banks. Students will be collecting non-perishable food items from the doorsteps of houses in the perimeter of Locust (north border), State (south border), 14th Street (west border) and 24th Street (east border). Participants are asked to have donations on their doorsteps by 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 5. Those residing outside of the pick-up vicinity may drop food off at QU’s Hall of Fame Room (inside the Health and Fitness Center) between 9:00 a.m. and noon on Wednesday morning. The collection will support food pantries at Quincy Catholic Charities, Horizons, Quanada, Salvation Army, St. Francis Solanus Parish, and St. John’s Lutheran Church.
