Quincy University launched its 2016-17 QU Fund drive on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at a reception held in the schools private dining room. The goal was set at $1.1 million for the second year in a row, and the fund drive has topped the $1 million mark for the past six years. The QU Fund drive raised $1,101,169 last year in support of campus improvements, technology enhancements and student scholarships.

“The scholarship assistance provided by the QU Fund is more important than ever before,” said Julie Bell, Vice President of Advancement. “The financial need of our students is greater than in years’ past and this situation is exacerbated by the continued uncertainty surrounding the Illinois Monetary Assistance Program (MAP) grant for low-income students.”

Chairpersons for this year’s campaign are Jerry and Mary Jo (Williams) Murphy ’70. The Murphy’s are dedicated university financial supporters and volunteers. Jerry just completed a nine-year term on the Board of Trustees and both Jerry and Mary Jo have helped organize the annual QU and You Chicago Golf outing held each June.

“Mary Jo and I are excited to serve as chairs for the QU Fund. We are thankful to those who have consistently supported the drive and encourage others to join us. Your support ensures that the foundation of a QU education will remain strong for many years to come,” said QU Fund Chair, Jerry Murphy.
