Quincy University and Western Catholic Union have announced the establishment of five annual $2,000 scholarships for students attending QU beginning in the Fall of 2018. This competitive scholarship program will involve a written essay and application. Recipients of a scholarship will be required to help organize a fundraiser or community project in conjunction with a local WCU branch office.

“We are grateful to the WCU for their continued support of Catholic education in our region,” said Phil Conover, QU’s acting president. “Scholarship programs like this will help ensure that students are able to afford a quality education.”

Students who are interested in applying for this outside scholarship can find the necessary forms online at www.quincy.edu/scholarships.   Applicants must have all materials turned in and have completed the QU admissions process by January 8, 2018 to qualify.

“Support of Catholic education is one of the principle fraternal activities we provide in our communities,” said Roger Player, president of Western Catholic Union. “For many years we have provided funds to local elementary and high schools in the form of student scholarships. We are extremely pleased to expand our efforts to include student scholarships in support of Quincy University”

Western Catholic Union is a fraternal benefit society, and has been headquartered in Quincy since 1877.  WCU’s 21 branches are located in Illinois, Missouri, Iowa and Wisconsin, and this scholarship program will be promoted in those areas. WCU’s mission is to attend to the fraternal, financial and spiritual well-being of the members of the Western Catholic Union by offering them the greatest number of social and spiritual opportunities possible and to keep our members safe and secure with the best insurance products available.
