QU to Accept Cryptocurrency Gifts
Quincy University has announced it is now able to accept digital currency donations.
Cryptocurrency donations are tax-deductible, and Quincy University, a 501(c)(3) charity, will receive the full value of the contribution. Donors will need to provide their name, address and email for the gift to be tax-deductible. Donations can be made using an online form at https://www.cryptoforcharity.io/quincyuniversity.
QU can accept 32 different types of digital currency, including BTC (Bitcoin), ETH (Ethereum), LINK (ChainLink Token) and LTC (Litecoin). It’s fast and secure to donate crypto, and it could save a donor in taxes.
“More and more people are investing in digital currency, and we don’t see that slowing down anytime soon,” said Matt Bergman, senior director of advancement. “QU is always looking for ways to make it easy for donors to support our students and initiatives.”
As of November 2021, the market value of digital currency was more than $3 trillion. About 46 million Americans, roughly 22% of the adult population, own cryptocurrency. The first known cryptocurrency gift to higher education occurred in 2014 when an alum of the University of Puget Sound made a gift to the school worth $10,000.
