Patricia Tomczak, Dean of Library and Information Resources at Quincy University, presented at CARLI Public Services Open House at Millikin University on Thursday, March 15. The purpose of the conference was to allow libraries to discuss renovations to their buildings and changes in services to better serve today’s student.

“I shared about what we’ve been doing and what we plan to do in the future. We are working with what we have and improving upon that,” said Tomczak.

Currently, the library staff is working with IT to improve the libraries Wi-Fi. As time and monies allow Tomczak wants to improve the library website making it more interactive and accessible to students off campus, to add more electronic resources, as well as, the addition of new types of hands on technology. In addition to improvements to the libraries technology, Tomczak would like to improve the ambiance of the library making it feel more like home. Along with that objective would be the addition of more staff.

“A student who comes to a school our size is not looking to do everything in an online environment, they are looking for a personal touch,” said Tomczak.

Tomczak believes that Brenner Library must continually modernize and evolve to meet the generational needs of in-coming students.
