QU Gray Gallery to Host Dan Ferguson ’93 Art Exhibition
Quincy University’s Gray Gallery, located in Brenner Library, will host the art exhibition Mixed Media Painting, featuring works by QU alumnus Dan Ferguson ’93, from Springfield, Mo. This free exhibition will take place from September 27 – October 29, 2021, and is open to the public. QU will host an artist reception during its Homecoming weekend on Saturday, October 2, from 3-4 p.m.
Ferguson earned his bachelor’s in studio art at Quincy University and earned a master’s in visual arts at the University of Illinois in 1996. As a student at QU, he was one of three students who received the National Liquitex Collegiate Award in Painting while studying with Robert Mejer, M.F.A., distinguished professor of art.
“I am very grateful for all of my QU art professors and all of their words and visual examples and demonstration over the years,” said Dan Ferguson.
Over the past 20 years, he has been the recipient of many awards at the Springfield Missouri Art Fairs.
“When I go into my art studio, the only rule I have for the most part is to be creative. I use and mix different media, expressing my emotions onto a paper or fabric canvas, I find energizing. The artworks are slightly woven and/or collaged in a new way, from work done earlier,” said Ferguson.
Ferguson also enjoys writing and has some fiction and poetry books published.
