Quincy University announced Courtney Kernich ’21 as the Gray Hunter Stenn LLP Accounting Award recipient.  This award is given to a student who excels inside of the classroom and contributes to the accounting profession.  Kernich is from Mount Olive, Ill., majored in accounting and finance and was a member of the QU Softball team.

Gray Hunter Stenn LLP, Certified Public Accountants (GHS), sponsors the award.  GHS is the largest CPA firm in Quincy and is one of the 500 largest firms in the United States.  They have been serving Quincy since 1917, providing audit, tax, consulting, payroll, and bookkeeping services to clients of all sizes and industries.

“Courtney’s academic achievement makes her well-deserving of this award. She was an active member of the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) student chapter and enhanced the accounting profession through her contributions as an accounting tutor for several years. Courtney was also a volunteer for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program organized through the United Way, which provides free income tax assistance and preparation of tax returns for the community,” said Vicky Eidson, D. Mgt., professor of accounting. “We are proud to have Courtney as an alumna and wish her the best of luck in her future.”

Kernich has accepted a position as a tax associate at Anders CPAs + Advisors in St. Louis.
