Five high school seniors have been awarded a 2021 Quincy University Augustus Tolton Presidential Scholarship. The students attained a minimum ACT score of 26 or SAT score of 1230 and a high school grade point average of 3.4 or higher.

Presidential Scholarship recipients are Colin FitzGerald of Prairie Village, Kans.; Mya Brown of O’Fallon, Mo.; Megan Miller of Timewell, Ill.; Jacob Sprock of Arnold, Mo. and Jared Garcia of Mokena, Ill.

“I enjoyed speaking with these five impressive Presidential Scholarship winners, each of whom will be a campus leader inside and outside the classroom,” said Brian McGee, Ph.D., president. “They should be proud of their accomplishments, along with all the outstanding young women and men who were invited to compete this year for our most prestigious scholarship.”

The selection process was held on the QU campus on February 6, 2021. The two-part selection process includes a timed, written essay and personal interviews with QU faculty. Additional activities included panel discussions and presentations by QU Administrators.

“As the twenty-fourth president of Quincy University, and on behalf of all those who have served as president, I am honored to recognize these newest QU Hawks as Presidential Scholars,” said McGee. “To meet these five winners and all those who competed for this recognition is to believe that the next generation of Americans will be our best and brightest.”
