Quincy University, a Catholic liberal arts institution in the Franciscan tradition, seeks applicants for a full-time, tenure track, 10-month faculty position in the School of Fine Arts & Communication. Core responsibilities include in-person teaching sections of drawing, painting and printmaking courses, and 2-D and/or 3-D design courses and courses in the successful candidate’s areas of expertise and interest. The standard teaching load is 4 courses each semester.
A productive program of research/creative activity in studio, as well as service to the department, School, campus and community are also expected. Other responsibilities include: student advising, assisting with curricular development, implementation, and program assessment, and participation in faculty governance activities and committee service. Interest in forwarding Quincy University’s Arts Management degree and participating in the new FYE program would be a plus.
Qualifications:
- MFA in Studio Arts/ Printmaking or Painting
- Teaching experience at the college level
- Knowledge of traditional drawing, painting and printmaking techniques
- Ability to teach 2-D and/or 3-D Design
- Professional experience with Studio Practice and exhibiting work
- Experience in current computer and digital

Position Overview:

The Engineering Program at Quincy University, composed of bachelor’s programs in both Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, was launched in Fall 2024 and is on schedule for ABET accreditation in AY 2028-2029. New laboratory and teaching spaces have been constructed as part of a $4.2 million facilities remodeling project. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching, curriculum development, academic integrity, scholarly research, and mentoring students in a close-knit academic environment.

Responsibilities:
The successful candidate’s primary responsibilities will include teaching the equivalent of a 4:4 load of undergraduate courses and labs within the Electrical Engineering curriculum, such as digital logic, circuits, digital systems, analog systems, microprocessors, electricity and magnetism, signal processing, electromechanical control systems, and quantum mechanics, in addition to overseeing capstone design projects. Additional responsibilities will include developing new courses, engaging in scholarly research (ideally involving undergraduate students), advising, contributing to departmental and university service, and actively contributing to the ABET accreditation process.
Required Qualifications:
- D. in Electrical Engineering, Electrical & Computer Engineering, Physics, or a closely related field from an ABET-accredited program
- A demonstrated commitment to undergraduate teaching, advising, and mentoring
- A proven track record of high-quality scholarly research, and a desire to involve undergraduates in research
- A strong commitment to ethics and academic integrity
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- An appreciation for the merits of liberal arts education, including interdisciplinary approaches to teaching and learning
- Familiarity with the ABET accreditation process and a commitment to participate therein
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior teaching experience as Instructor of Record at the undergraduate or graduate level

Responsibilities:
• Coordinate logistics for speaker events, including room reservations, equipment setup, and attendee communication
