QU Appoints New Director of Campus Ministry

Fr. John Doctor, OFM, Vice President of Mission and Ministry, has announced that Fr. Daren Zehnle, J.C.L., K.C.H.S., has been appointed as Director of Campus Ministry at Quincy University.

Fr. Daren has served as a QU adjunct faculty member for the past two years. He will begin his full-time duties as Director of Campus Ministry on July 1, 2024, and will continue his role as adjunct assistant professor in theology.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts (in history) from Quincy University (2000), a Baccalaureate in Sacred Theology from the University of Saint Mary of the Lake/Mundelein Seminary (2005), and a Master of Divinity (summa cum laude) from the University of Saint Mary of the Lake/Mundelein Seminary (2005).

Fr. Daren was ordained a Roman Catholic priest in service of the Diocese of Springfield in Illinois by the Most Reverend George J. Lucas, D.D., on May 28, 2005.

He has served as the pastor of St. Augustine Parish in Ashland, Illinois for the past seven years. He will wrap-up his time there this summer while continuing to serve the Diocese of Springfield as Director of the Office for Divine Worship and the Catechumenate, Adjutant Judicial Vicar, Diocesan Judge for the Diocesan Tribunal, and Episcopal Delegate for Matrimonial Concerns.

As Director of Campus Ministry, Fr. Daren’s goal is to help every student discover who God is, to love him, and to serve him. He envisions building a core group of students by answering questions about faith and morality through Bible studies, prayer opportunities, social activities, mission trips, and other events the students request.
