Quincy, Ill. – The Illinois College Press Association honored Quincy Alumnus student press at its annual convention February 20, 2016 in Chicago. A former writer for The Falcon, the student newspaper, won a 2015 Award for Excellence in Illinois College Newspapers. Andres Martinez won first place in the sports news category for non-dailies with a circulation under four thousand. Martinez wrote a story for the March 31, 2015 issue titled “Hawks debut new turf field in style.” Martinez is a QU alumnus who currently works for The Herald Whig in Quincy.
