How do I pay for study abroad?
Study abroad expenses typically range from $2,500 to $6,000, depending on the destination and program. Fortunately, there are several ways to reduce and manage these costs:
- Students can participate in fundraising activities throughout the year, tailored to their program.
- Financial aid counselors are available to help explore budgeting strategies and funding options.
- Eligible students may apply for QUEST Cash and dedicated scholarships, including:
- Linda J. Godley Study Abroad Scholarship
- Ridgley Pierson Study Abroad Scholarship
Quincy University is committed to providing a safe, enriching academic experience abroad. To ensure this:
- Students must currently be enrolled and in good academic standing.
- Courteous and responsible behavior is expected both in housing and during group excursions.
- Participants must respect the host culture and comply with local laws and customs.
What are the eligibility requirements?
The Study Abroad Committee reviews all applicants. To qualify, students must:
- Be 18 years or older
- Have completed at least one semester at QU with a minimum GPA of 2.0
- Be in good academic, financial, and disciplinary standing
Medical Requirements
Students must carry adequate health, accident, disability, and hospitalization insurance for the duration of the program. In case of emergency, students will sign a release authorizing Quincy University and its representatives to arrange necessary medical treatment, including hospitalization or surgery.
Travel Considerations
While extracurricular travel is encouraged, Quincy University is not liable for any travel outside the official program. Students are responsible for:
- Rejoining the group if separated
- Managing their own travel logistics if they miss the scheduled transportation
- Seeking assistance in case of illness or injury during excursions
Deposit & Cancellation Policy
Upon enrollment, student accounts will be charged the full cost of the trip, including a $500 non-refundable deposit. Refunds are available under the following conditions:
- Cancel 90+ days before departure: Partial refund available
- Cancel less than 60 days before departure: No refund
