Dr. Reed serves as the Vice President for Academic Affairs and has responsibility for all areas related to the academic experience, including the Registrar’s Office, Brenner Library, Office of Graduate Studies, Academic Assessment, and the QUEST Center. She is also responsible for implementation of the academic components of QU’s strategic plan, hiring and evaluating faculty, program development and review, and making recommendations for faculty promotion and tenure.

Dr. Reed has worked at QU since 2010 and is a tenured professor of philosophy. She taught full-time for many years before entering academic administration. Additionally, she had substantial administrative experience before coming to Quincy, serving as Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences at Marymount University (VA) and Associate Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Rockhurst University (MO). While in these roles, Dr. Reed maintained an active scholarship portfolio with special interest in the philosophy of time, phenomenology, existentialism, and the philosophy of mathematics. She is also a frequent speaker at professional meetings.

Dr. Reed earned Bachelor of Arts degrees in mathematics and in philosophy from Seattle University and a Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of Notre Dame. She enjoys taking road trips, doing nature photography, listening to music, playing the guitar (especially her Strat), and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
