Faculty Openings

Full -Time Faculty positions in English

Quincy University, a Catholic, Franciscan, and liberal arts institution emphasizing the development of servant leaders, invites applications for two tenure-track faculty positions in English at the rank of assistant professor or associate professor, beginning Fall 2027.

Responsibilities: QU is seeking qualified candidates to teach courses in Composition, its co-requisite one-credit Writing Studio, literature, creative and technical writing, and related fields. The usual teaching load is 4 courses each semester. Academic advising and committee work are expected after the first year.

The successful applicants for these positions will work cooperatively with colleagues in disciplines representing the liberal arts and the professions. Collaboration with faculty in Quincy University’s Communication program will be an expectation of our new faculty colleagues in English. Both disciplines are housed in the School of Fine Arts & Communication.

Quincy University is committed to its English major and to advanced undergraduate instruction in the discipline. The successful applicants will play essential roles building enrollments through redesign of the English major.

Qualifications: Specialties in any area of literature or writing are welcome. Applicants with expertise in one or more of the following areas are especially encouraged: (1) Catholic literature, including the Catholic literary canon; (2) rhetoric and composition, including business and administrative communication and science communication; (3) literature of the American Midwest.

A doctoral degree in English, or a related field, with college-level teaching is preferred. Candidates with at least a Master’s degree in English, or a related field, may qualify for hire with the conversion of the position to non-tenure track.

Position Start Date: August 16, 2027.

Salary: $50,000-$59,000, depending on experience.

Instructor/Tenure-Track Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice

Quincy University, a Franciscan, Catholic, and liberal arts institution emphasizing the development of servant-leaders, seeks applicants for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Criminal Justice. Criminal Justice is one of the top five enrollments by major at QU. The University has an active mock-trial program, and other avenues for student involvement with the discipline such as the Women in Law club, as well as numerous internship and service opportunities.

Responsibilities: QU is seeking qualified candidates to teach courses such as Foundations of Criminal Law, Contemporary Criminal Law and Procedure, Ethics, Justice, Diversity, Juvenile Delinquency, and/or other courses in their areas of expertise and interest. The usual teaching load is 4 courses each semester. Academic advising and committee work are expected after the first year.

Qualifications: A doctorate in Criminal Justice, Law, or related field is required. Teaching experience at the college level is preferred.

Position Start Date: August 17, 2026.

Position Salary Range: $53,000 – $59,000

Quincy University Security Officer

The Safety & Security Department, a 24-7 operation has an immediate opening for fulltime Security Officer. Position requires sound judgement, effective communications skills, ability to walk for extended periods of time and work effectively with college age students. Previous law enforcement or security experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities:
• Serves as a representative of the University
• Monitor campus door/camera security system
• Unlock/lock buildings
• Patrol campus perimeter
• Monitor building and grounds for hazardous conditions
• Make student, staff & faculty ID cards
• Complete written reports
• Complete other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
• At least 21 years of age
• Valid driver’s license from the state he or she resides in
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Available for all shifts/flexibility in scheduling

Student Financial Services Counselor

Quincy University seeks qualified applicants for a full-time Student Financial Services Counselor.

Responsibilities:

  • Serving as a counselor and advisor to students and their families as they consider options to finance a Quincy University education. One is expected to understand all federal, state, and University funding options.
  • Student Financial Services counselors are expected to assist students with understanding and filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), explain the awarding process and ensure financial aid awards are delivered timely and accurately.
  • All members of the staff are expected to develop expertise required to provide assistance in all areas of office operations.
  • Counselors provide counseling in area of loan default prevention and financial literacy, responsible for loan origination and reconciliation, ensure awarded loans meet federal requirements and timely delivery of funds to students.

Qualifications:

  • While a Bachelor’s degree is preferred, an Associate’s degree is required with two or three years of experience in a financial aid office are required for consideration.
  • Positive attitude
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills with the ability to provide timely and accurate information.
  • Applicant must be detail-oriented and computer literate.
  • Must pass federal financial aid officer training program (online).

Salary: $17.00 hr

Seasonal Sprint Football Position Coach (Part-Time/Stipend Position)

Quincy University is seeking a motivated and energetic Seasonal Sprint Football Position Coach to assist with the development and instruction of student-athletes within the Sprint Football program. This part-time, stipend position will work directly with a designated position group and support the overall mission of Quincy University Athletics.

Responsibilities Include:

• Coach and develop student-athletes within an assigned position group.
• Assist with practice planning, drills, and game preparation.
• Teach position-specific skills, techniques, and strategies.
• Support student-athlete development both on and off the field.
• Assist with recruiting efforts as assigned.
• Participate in game-day operations and team activities.
• Comply with all University, conference, league, and athletics department policies and procedures.
