Katie McConnell serves as the Director of Health Promotion at the Adams County Health Department and as an adjunct professor at Quincy University, where she is committed to preparing future public health professionals through engaging and practical instruction. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Community Health Education and Promotion from Illinois State University and a Master’s degree in Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management from Arkansas State University.

With extensive experience in emergency preparedness, communicable disease response, and community health initiatives, Katie has supported public health responses through numerous outbreaks and emergency events, including the COVID-19 pandemic. Her professional background includes communicable disease investigation, epidemiological surveillance, outbreak response, and community health preparedness.

Passionate about community wellness and public health education, Katie enjoys helping students connect classroom learning to real-world public health practice. In her leadership role, she continues advancing health promotion initiatives and strengthening community wellness efforts throughout the region.
