Jennifer Bock-Nelson serves as Associate Professor of Visual Art at Quincy University, bringing more than two decades of experience as a working artist and educator. She holds a Master of Fine Arts in drawing and painting from Northern Illinois University and a Bachelor of Arts from Houghton College in western New York.
Her art explores light and the ephemeral nature of time through hyper-focused examination of our changing planet. She embraces technology as a tool for capturing phenomena outside the scope of human perception. Primarily a painter, she works in oil, watercolor, gouache, and colored pencil. Jennifer exhibits nationally and is a grant recipient of Illinois Arts Council and Arts Midwest. She is an Artist Leadership Fellow with Mid-America Arts Alliance and a workshop facilitator for Artist Express Inc. Her artist residencies include Vermont Studio Center, Ox-Bow, and Ragdale. Her public works include a 5,000 sq. ft. mural on the Quincy town square in Washington Park and two exterior sides of Horizons Soup Kitchen and Food Pantry.
