Dr. Jonathan Stewart serves as Associate Professor of Music and the Director of Choral Activities at Quincy University. He holds a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Southeast Missouri State University, a Master of Music in Choral Conducting from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, and a Doctorate in Musical Arts in Music Education from Boston University. Utilizing the intensive training he received earning each of these degrees, Dr. Stewart teaches applied voice, directs the three QU Choral Ensembles, and teaches various classes in the realm of vocal music education.
With more than 25 years teaching experience at the university level and more than 30 years experience as a professional performer, conductor and church musician, Dr. Stewart enjoys sharing his passion for vocal music with his students and others within the Quincy community. Dr. Stewart also enjoys reaching out to the Quincy area and beyond in his efforts to bring high school and junior high singers for the annual QU Choral Festival, his various university and community choral concerts, and periodic tours with the QU Concert Choir, Chamber Choir, and Hawks of Harmony.
