Quincy University’s Brenner Library will host Wendall Mauter, Ph.D., for a presentation titled “The History of Antisemitism: A Necessary (but Insufficient) Cause of the Holocaust” at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 10.
The lecture is held in conjunction with the national traveling exhibition “Americans and the Holocaust” from the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum, in partnership with the American Library Association, on display from Oct. 29 to Dec. 4, with group tours available through Dec. 2.
During the presentation, Mauter will trace the evolution of fear, hatred, dislike and indifference of the Jews from ancient, medieval and modern eras and how these distorted stereotypes about Jews played a crucial role in how the Holocaust was carried out.
The event is free and open to the public. A full list of the events in conjunction with the exhibit is available on the QU website.
More information about “Americans and the Holocaust” is available on the ushmm.org website.
