Quincy University’s School of Humanities is sponsoring an educational session in celebration of Constitution Day on Sept. 17.
The session, titled “The Constitution and Democracy,” will be held at 12:30 p.m. in the private dining room of the Quincy University cafeteria, located at 1810 Lind St.
“Critics of our constitution, on both right and left, often complain that our constitution is insufficiently democratic,” said Padraic Rohan, assistant professor of history. “We will explore these points of view, and the counterargument — that history is with the vital center of American politics.”
The event will be highly interactive, encouraging students to actively engage in the debate and share their perspectives on the country’s founding document.
Constitution Day is a national celebration commemorating the formation and signing of the U.S. Constitution on Sept. 17, 1787, recognizing all who have become citizens.
The League of Women Voters of Adams County will be registering voters in the lobby before and after the event. All members of the community are encouraged to participate.
