The Lincoln Academy of Illinois named Quincy University senior Alexis Stufflebeam, Farmington, Ill., a recipient of the prestigious Lincoln Academy Student Laureate Award for 2025.

The Lincoln Academy Student Laureate program recognizes excellence in curricular and extracurricular activities by seniors from each of Illinois’ four-year, degree-granting colleges and universities. Each fall, The Lincoln Academy presents an outstanding senior from each of these institutions with the Abraham Lincoln Civic Engagement Award.

“Thanks to the exceptional work of The Lincoln Academy, a graduating senior at Quincy University is recognized each year for outstanding academic achievement and character,” said Brian McGee, Ph.D., QU president. “We are delighted that Alexis Stufflebeam is this year’s Lincoln Academy honoree. Alexis exemplifies all that is good about a Quincy University education.”

Stufflebeam is a criminal justice major at QU. In addition to being recognized as a Lincoln Laureate Scholar 2025, Stufflebeam is a member of the Alpha Phi Sigma Criminal Justice Honor Society and is a dean’s list honoree and Circle K Club Scholarship recipient. She is QU Resident Director and Assistant to Student Engagement, former president and committee chair with Sigma Phi Eta Sorority, co-founder and member of Women in Law Learning/Living Community, member of the President Honors College, and an orientation leader. Stufflebeam is also a Jury Commissioner for Adams County. “Abraham Lincoln’s leadership has always stood out because it was rooted in humility, integrity, and an unwavering focus on the greater good. Those qualities guide the way I try to live and lead,” said Stufflebeam. “Lincoln’s legacy is a reminder that true leadership is measured not by recognition, but by the good we leave behind. As I look ahead to a career in counseling and advocacy, I hope to carry on his example.”

This is the 51st year The Lincoln Academy of Illinois has celebrated students’ excellence in leadership and service in Illinois. Each student was presented with an Abraham Lincoln Civic Engagement Award, a Lincoln medallion, a challenge coin, and a $1,000 check from The Lincoln Academy, at the ceremony hosted at the University of Chicago on October 18.

“I’m incredibly honored to receive the Lincoln Student Laureate Award and want to thank the Student Laureate Committee for this recognition,” said Stufflebeam. “I’m so grateful to Quincy University for being a place that has shaped me not only academically but also personally. I’ve been lucky to learn from professors and mentors who have believed in me, challenged me, and helped me grow into the person I am today. Most of all, I am thankful for my family who have supported me every step of the way. This award means so much to me, and it reminds me to keep showing up for others the way so many people have shown up for me.”
