
QUINCY UNIVERSITY HONORS DISTINGUISHED ART PROFESSOR BOB MEJER
Quincy University will honor Bob Mejer, distinguished professor of art, with a memorial service and opening of the Bob Mejer Retrospective Art Show on Sunday, September 21.
The memorial service, officiated by Father John Doctor, will be held in the Quincy University Chapel in Francis Hall at 1:00 pm, followed by an opening reception at the Gray Gallery in Brenner Library from 2:00 – 4:00 pm.
Featured in the show will be more recent work of Bob Mejer, including several works done in his award-winning abstract watercolor style. Pieces have been provided by the permanent collections of the Quincy Art Center and Quincy University, along with several private collectors.
The reception will include several speakers representing organizations impacted by Professor Mejer’s 57 years of service to the university and community. Representatives will be on hand from the Quincy Art Center, the Great River Watercolor Society, Watercolor USA and the QU Art Department.
Donations for the Gray Gallery and the Bob Mejer Art Scholarship will be accepted in the spirit of Bob’s ongoing love of the arts and the importance of community art.
