Rob Copley is the Director of Safety and Security at Quincy University, serving in this capacity since May 2024. As such, Rob manages the department and directly supervises the security officers. Rob is the designated Title IX Investigator and investigates all such complaints in conjunction with the Title IX Coordinator. He is also responsible for all investigations into University rule infractions, including reports of Hazing. Rob strives to continuously improve the security of the QU campus and the safety of the QU community through ongoing reviews and enhancements of policies, practices, and technology. Safety and Security is part of the Student Development Department. Rob works closely with the other members of the Student Development Team, particularly with the new student orientation and training.
Before coming to QU, Rob was a forty-two-year veteran of the Quincy Police Department. He served the police department as a Patrolman, Detective-Youth Specialist, Detective Sergeant, Patrol Lieutenant, and Chief of Police. Rob has an Associate’s Degree in Law Enforcement Administration from Lincoln Land Community College and is a graduate of the Northwestern University Center for Public Safety School of Police Staff and Command. During his eighteen years as Chief of Police, Rob worked closely with community groups and leaders to further police-community relations. Rob is a life member of several professional associations, including the Central Illinois Association of Law Enforcement Executives, the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police, and the International Association of Chiefs of Police.
