Jayme Peacock, PhD

Jayme Peacock serves as Assistant Professor of English at Quincy University, where she is committed to helping students experience the joys of encountering literature. She holds a PhD in English from Penn State University and a B.A. and B.S. in English and Mathematics from Purdue University. She comes from a working class background and, as the first college-degree holder in her family, she loves connecting with hard-working students to help them discover the wonders–and the humanity–of the written word. She has taught literature courses in early British and World literatures, as well as a themed course called Love in the Premodern World. She has contributed to the digital Keats Letters Project and has published a review of Kirilka Stavreva’s critical book Words Like Daggers: Violent Female Speech in Early Modern England in the journal Restoration: Studies in English Literary Culture, 1660-1700.
She is currently working on a final revision of an article-in-progress on Edmund Spenser’s much maligned poem Daphnaïda. When not in the classroom or her office, Jayme can often be found outdoors, playing fetch with her Doberman mix, Karma.
