Stop Campus Hazing Act
The Stop Campus Hazing Act (SCHA) amended section 485(f) of the Higher Education Act, otherwise known as the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act). The Stop Campus Hazing Act has three primary components:
- Inclusion of hazing statistics in annual security reports
- Implementation of hazing policies, including those specific to hazing prevention
- Compilation of a Campus Hazing Transparency Report
In compliance with the Stop Campus Hazing Act, Quincy University publishes a Campus Hazing Transparency Report twice a year. The reports are updated and published each December and June. While not required to update the campus hazing transparency report if there are no reported incidents resulting in a finding of responsibility for a hazing violation, Quincy University will continue to publish the two reports annually, regardless of the findings. To be included, reported incidents of hazing must meet the following criteria to be included in the campus hazing transparency report:
- The reported incident must involve a student organization that is established by or recognized by Quincy University, and
- The reported incident must be adjudicated with a finding that the student organization violated Quincy University’s standards of conduct related to hazing on or after July 1, 2025.
The campus hazing transparency report includes the following information:
- The name of the student organization involved.
- A description of the violation that resulted in the finding of responsibility.
- If the violation involved the abuse of alcohol or drugs.
- The date of the incident.
- The date the investigation into the incident was initiated.
- The date the investigation ended with a finding that a hazing violation occurred.
- The date Quincy University notified the student organization of the finding of responsibility.
- The findings for the determination of responsibility.
- The sanctions placed on the student organization by Quincy University.
- Any added information determined by Quincy University to be necessary.
The Campus Hazing Transparency Report will not include any personally identifiable information, including any information that would reveal personally identifiable information, about any individual student in accordance with section 444 of the General Education Provisions Act (commonly known as the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974).
