Quincy University’s Gray Gallery to host James Zimmerman ’06 Art Exhibition

February 10, 2020 @ 8:30 am - 4:30 pm

Quincy University’s Gray Gallery, located in Brenner Library, will host an art exhibition, featuring works by James Zimmerman ’06 of Palmyra, Mo. The exhibit will feature acrylic paintings on canvas. This free exhibition will take place from February 10 – 28, 2020, and is open to the public.

Inspired by his mother, Zimmerman started creating art daily at the age of two and never stopped. Zimmerman graduated from Culver-Stockton College in 2001 with a bachelor of fine arts in graphic design and earned his master’s degree in education from Quincy University in 2006. He enjoys painting portraits with real expression and plays with lights to exaggerate expression. Zimmerman believes art should deal with the day’s issues.

“I believe an artist should always be exploring so my work shows this exploration. Most of my work has an urban flare. I love work that grows and develops through the process of creation,” said Zimmerman.

The exhibit will include a range of artwork from detailed realism to his previous work.

The Gray Gallery is open Monday – Thursday, 8:30 a.m. – 11 p.m.; Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.; Saturday, Closed; Sunday, 5 p.m. – 11 p.m.
