River town rivalries are nothing new, and the cities of Hannibal, Missouri and Quincy, Illinois have experienced their share of mutual animosity. As a boy growing up in Hannibal, Sam Clemens engaged in some friendly “poking” at Hannibal’s neighbor up the river. Quincy responded in kind, and even the newspapers weighed in. This class will be a fun look back in time at the ways Quincy viewed its most famous neighbor, Mark Twain of Hannibal.
