This lecture is a glimpse at the progress made in understanding the natural world from Aristotle to Hawking with stops along the way for some of the more fundamental changes provided by the likes of Copernicus, Galileo, Newton, Einstein, and others. Even though it is still a work in progress, we will attempt to place some of the more dramatic developments into a modern day perspective.
