Program Overview
Students seeking a structured, interdisciplinary path to law school may pursue Quincy University’s Pre‑Law concentration. This program provides the academic foundation, preparation, and hands‑on experience that strengthen a student’s readiness for law school. It coordinates major courses and electives to create a consistent legal focus throughout a student’s undergraduate studies.
Law schools do not require applicants to major in any specific field. While QU’s Pre‑Law program is housed within the Political Science department, students from any major can successfully prepare for law school. Political Science, History, and Criminal Justice are among the most common choices for prospective law students, but the Pre‑Law concentration is compatible with any degree program. Although many concentration courses fall under Political Science, students across all disciplines are welcome.
Center for Legal Studies
The Center for Legal Studies supports students through hands-on learning in mock trial, legal analysis, and forensic investigation while preparing them for law school and careers in law, criminal justice, and related fields. The Center includes the John “Pete” Brown Courtroom, classrooms, conference rooms, a computer lab and a law library.
I witnessed the evolution of the QU Pre-Law Program from 1975 to the present and can attest that Quincy University has the premier undergraduate pre-law program for students who wish to pursue a career in the law. This program provides QU students with the knowledge, tools and confidence to succeed in law school and in the practice of law.”
