Quincy University Engineering Degree Program to Host Engineering Visit Day

Quincy University’s Engineering degree program will host Engineering Visit Day on Oct. 16, offering prospective students and members of the local community a look into engineering careers.

The event begins with registration at noon in Francis Hall on the main campus. Attendees will participate in a dedicated Q&A session with admissions staff, faculty and current students, go on a campus tour and experience the major with hands on activities within the program.

“It’s important for students to see what a university is like before committing to it,” said John Sanders, Ph.D., program director and associate professor of engineering. “We hope that after spending some time with our current students and faculty, prospective students will want to be a part of the Quincy University engineering community.”

QU’s mechanical and electrical engineering programs aim to meet workforce demand while training ethical professionals.

“With the rapid development of artificial intelligence, the surest way for engineering students to make themselves employable in today’s workforce is to be able to think critically, accurately, creatively and independently,” said Sanders. “There will always be a need for human engineers to check AI output and come up with new ideas. Quincy University’s Engineering Program is designed specifically to give students those skills.”

The curriculum emphasizes building real-world solutions through physics, mathematics, and hands-on design, guided by a rigorous process of testing and troubleshooting.

“We hope they will see that ours isn’t a run-of-the-mill engineering program. Here at Quincy University, we refuse to settle for mediocrity,” said Sanders. “We always strive to be the best at what we do, and we constantly raise the bar by going above and beyond what is required. As our motto says, we’re all about “raising the standard.”
