Policies

  • Equipment Checkout Equipment may be checked out at the front desk by leaving your ID with a member of the fitness center staff.
  • Facility Reservations and Rentals Areas of the facility may be reserved or rented out during summer and holiday hours, with approval of the Director. Student activities and organizations have first priority. Individual and group needs may be accommodated on a space availability basis. University student activities and organizations have first priority. All questions regarding an event should be directed to Mike Davis, Director of the Student Health & Fitness Center at 217-228-5244.
  • Locker Room Facilities Lockers in the Fitness Center are for daily use only. Please do not leave valuables unattended or in an unlocked locker. Quincy University is not responsible for lost or stolen items. Locks left on lockers may be subject to removal.
  • Three Court Area Court areas are often used for University athletic pratices and intramurals. Pratice schedules are subject to change without notice. When only one court is open for recreational play, full court basketball will not be allowed during that time. Individuals are not allowed to set up or take down equipment. Please contact a facility worker for assistance.
  • Racquetball Courts Eye protection should be worn at all times. Racquetball courts may NOT be reserved ahead of time and are only available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
  • Weight Room No one under the age of 16 is allowed to use the weight room even if accompanied by an adult. All free weights and dumbbells must be returned to the appropriate rack after use. No food or drink (other than water) is allowed in the weight room. Slamming or dropping weights is prohibited as well as the use of lifting chalk. Proper attire includes clean, close-topped shoes with non-marking soles, shorts or sweats (no blue jeans or cut-offs), shirt or tank top which covers front and back and to the shoulders with reasonable armpits. Cleaning and disinfecting benches and upholstery (cleaner and towels are provided) is expected. Please report all equipment problems to the front desk.
  • Cardio Equipment No one under the age of 16 is allowed on the cardio equipment even if accompanied by an adult. Limit use on the equipment to 45 minutes when others are waiting to use the equipment. Proper attire is the same as for the weight room. Please clean machine parts contacted by the body (cleaner and towels are provided) after each use. Do not use equipment marked "Out of Order". Please report all equipment problems to the front desk.
  • Smoking is not permitted in the Student Health & Fitness Center.
  • Alcohol is not permitted in the Student Health & Fitness Center.
  • Aerobics Classes are not included as part of the QU Membership package.  Anyone interested in attending Water or Floor Aerobic classes must pay an additional fee.  More information is available in the floor and water aerobic areas of this website.
  • ID Policy Students and employees must present a valid University ID at the front desk in order to use the facility. Other users may purchase a University Pass to gain access to the Fitness Center. Any individual using a false ID or allowing someone else to use their ID to enter the facility will have their facility privileges suspended or terminated.
  • Shoes For your safety, and the preservation of our floors, only clean and dry aerobic, cross training, or court shoes may be worn in the facility. Employees may ask anyone wearing inappropriate shoes to discontinue participation.
  • Lost and Found Lost and Found area is located at the front desk.
  • Food and Beverages Food and beverages are not allowed in any of the Activity Areas. Only water is permitted in these areas.
  • Age Requirement Use of the Fitness Room and Cardio Equipment is limited to those who are 16 years of age and older. Children under the age of 16 who are accompanied by an adult member may use all other areas of the facility.
  • Emergency Assistance Medical emergencies or first aid requests should be directed to the supervisor on duty. This contact can be made through a staff member at the front desk, in the fitness room, or in the Aquatics Center. Please notify the staff if you have a medical condition that may require assistance.
  • Emergency Exits Emergency Exits are located throughout the building; please use them in case of an emergency. Should a tornado siren sound indicating a tornado warning, everyone will be required to move immediately to the locker room area (underneath the fitness room, just off of the court area).
