Quincy University will host an interfaith red, white and blue service at 6pm on September 11th in the Main Chapel. The event will honor victims of the 9-11 disaster as well as all military and first responder personnel. The public is encouraged to attend this ceremony.

After a welcome from Mayor Kyle Moore, the service will commence with a procession of flags and wreaths followed by several readings from the Islam, Judaism, and Christianity faiths.   Hymns will be interspersed throughout the event. Organizations participating include over ten community groups which provide emergency assistance and law enforcement as well as military organizations including the America Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Marine Corp. League and Catholic War Veterans.

Speakers include Fr. John Doctor, Rev. Orville Jones, Dr. Zakiah Ali, Dr. Wendy Beller and Fr. Tom Donovan. Music will be provided by Dr. Ann Behrens and Ann Soltys. The evening will conclude with police and fire “last calls” before the playing of Amazing Grace and Taps. Cleve Barkley and Beth Young will perform these pieces on the bagpipes and bugle, respectively.
