QUINCY, Ill. – Quincy University will celebrate Franciscan Heritage Week October 2 – 7, with several activities designed to celebrate Quincy University’s Franciscan Heritage. The public is encouraged to join faculty, staff and students at the events hosted by QU Campus Ministry.

The celebration begins Sunday, October 2, at 7:15p.m. with an Ignite Praise and Worship Service at the Campus Ministry House.

The Campus Ministry office will serve cookies Monday from 8 – 9:30 a.m.

The Transitus Service is at 7 p.m. Monday in the Holy Cross Friary. Transitus, Latin for passage, interactively depicts and commemorates the final years of Saint Francis.

Psalm Reflection, praying Psalms that reflect the life of Saint Francis, is scheduled for Tuesday at 9 a.m. at St. Francis Solanus Chapel.

At 11:30 a.m. Tuesday outside Willer Hall, share a simple prayer in thanksgiving for the blessing of pets.

Wednesday from 10 – 11 a.m., outside the Student Success Center, receive a special blessing from our priest using a bone of St. Francis.

The Student Success Center staff will offer St. Francis favorites as they serve coffee and cappuccino for Wake Up Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. – noon.
