Dr. Bruce Spitzer earned his Ed.D in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Educational Technology from Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, Oklahoma in 2004.

His career history includes work as a high school drama coach, English teacher, and journalism advisor; a community college English instructor; and a corporate vice president. During his time as a full-time faculty member at Indiana University South Bend, he served on a variety of campus and university committees and served 6 years as Head of the Department of Secondary Education and Foundations of Education.

Originally from Kalona, Iowa, he also earned a Bachelor's degree in Speech and Theatre with secondary education teacher licensure from McPherson College, McPherson, Kansas, and a Master of Arts degree in English from Fort Hays State University, Hays, Kansas.

His scholarly interests currently focus on leadership in academic settings, but he has also studied organizational structure, teacher use of technology, and technology integration throughout school environments.

He has been honored with McPherson College's Dayton Rothrock Teacher Education Alumni Fellowship, and is a member of Indiana University's Faculty Colloquium on Excellence in Teaching
