Active Learning Opportunities

Quincy's Political Science program gives you distinctive ways to put your learning to work. Internships, both paid and unpaid, will put you in the professional communities of law, government, and electoral politics, where you can build your résumé and expand your professional network. Interns have served in the State's Attorney Office, the Public Defender's Office, and private law firms. They have also assisted electoral candidates and have worked for the Office of the Mayor and the Chamber of Commerce.

You may participate for credit in our nationally ranked, award-winning Mock Trial Team. Coached by faculty and local legal professionals, you'll learn legal reasoning, public speaking, and organizational skills, and a great deal about the nature of the adversarial system. Our team has advanced to the national tournament in seven of the 10 years since its founding. Competing successfully against such schools as Washington University, Vanderbilt University, Loyola University, and the Air Force Academy, the team has earned individual accolades for its members as well.
