Overview

Promise Yourself a Brighter Future
Completing a professional degree is a proven way to increase your potential in the workplace and to enhance your life satisfaction. At Quincy University, we understand the personal commitment you invest in your degree and the sacrifices you willingly make to reach your goals.

That's why we designed the Professional Studies program in Human Services with your needs and requirements in mind—so that "future perfect" doesn't have to mean "present tense."

The program gives students flexibility through a choice of two distinctive instructional approaches: the traditional face-to-face model or the new online program.

In the face-to-face model, accelerated courses meet one evening each week for three - four hours (or in an extended weekend format). Each semester consists of two eight-week sessions in which most students choose to complete two classes per session.

In the online program, students complete courses through asynchronous learning that fits their individual schedules, combined with online discussions that promote interaction
and feedback

Students in the Professional Studies program meet the requirements of full-time status through focused and concentrated study. Whether students gather in a classroom or collaborate through online activities, expert instructors draw upon the life and professional experiences of participants to create a dynamic and supportive learning community.

A Career with Variety and Value
The Professional Studies program in Human Services will prepare you for a broad range of careers in the social services or counseling. You will develop the knowledge and hone the skills that will allow you to contribute in a wide range of social service organizations and advocacy roles. Human Services graduates serve abused and neglected children, the elderly, victims of substance abuse, and young people in the juvenile justice system.

The major requires forty-eight hours of approved coursework in Human Services, including 12 hours of electives. Because Human Services is a wide-ranging field, you'll work with your advisor from day one to develop an individual degree plan to reflect your specialized interests. At every stage of your study, teachers and advisors who are experts in their fields will help you to apply your talents and expand your thinking.
