| FOR RELEASE UPON RECEIPT Hawks Headed To NCAA Tournament For Third Consecutive Season
(Quincy, Ill.) The 2007 NCAA Division II men's basketball tournament pairings have been released and Quincy University has earned their third consecutive at-large berth into the tournament. Quincy will be the No. 6 seed in the Great Lakes Region and will face the No. 3 seed Grand Valley State University at noon on Saturday, March 10 in Findlay, Ohio. "This is a very strong field that we are in," said Quincy Head Coach Marty Bell. "We like the opportunity to play someone that we haven't seen. It brings a little more excitement." Quincy, 20-9 overall, earned their third consecutive at-large berth, marking the first time in school history that the men's basketball program has advanced to the tournament in three straight years. Grand Valley State is currently 26-4 overall and earned their way into the tournament with an at-large berth, marking their second consecutive trip to the tournament. "This is a great moment for the Quincy program and these young men," said Bell. "To make it three straight years is quite an accomplishment and I am proud of them."
Quincy is making their sixth tournament appearance in school history. The other games in the Great Lakes Region are host school and No. 1 seed Findlay against No. 8 seed Wisconsin-Parkside; No. 2 seed Southern Indiana against No. 7 seed Rockhurst and No. 4 seed Northern Kentucky against No. 5 seed Drury. The Great Lakes Region will be held in Findlay, Ohio from Saturday, March 10 through Tuesday, March 13. The winner of the region advances to the Elite Eight held in Springfield, Mass.
