Adjunct Instructor of Computer Science – Linux

Quincy University, a Catholic liberal arts university in the Franciscan tradition,
seeks applicants for an adjunct instructor of Linux.

Position Description:
The position will provide instruction for one daytime course in the fall 2016. The
Linux class will meet on MW from 1:50 pm – 3:05 pm.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science
  • Solid understanding of the Linux Command Line and Linux Operating System
  • Knowledge of at least one desktop environment (KDE, GNOME, etc.)
  • Basic shell scripting

Preference will be given to individuals with:

  • Post-secondary teaching experience
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science

Assistant Professor/Instructor of Computer Science

Quincy University, a Franciscan institution, is seeking to fill a visiting position in computer science/computer information system at the rank of Instructor or Assistant Professor in the Division of Science and Technology with the potential of becoming a tenure track position.

Responsibilities
Teach 12 hours of courses per semester, committee work, and participate in university activities. Teaching responsibilities will include undergraduate courses in computer science; specific courses may include computer programming, web programming, algorithms, computer architecture, operating systems, and computer networks.

Qualifications
A master’s degree in computer science is required for the instructor rank. A Ph.D. degree is required for the assistant professor rank. Applicants will have a commitment to the liberal arts tradition, an enthusiasm for teaching undergraduates, and an interest in fostering the development of Computer Science student skills for graduate school and the workforce.

Visiting Assistant Professor of Mathematics

Quincy University, a Catholic liberal arts university in the Franciscan tradition, seeks applicants for a visiting position in mathematics at the rank of Assistant Professor, with the potential for conversion to tenure track, beginning Fall 2016. Teaching responsibilities will be four undergraduate courses per semester for both majors and non-majors. Courses may include Basic Statistics, Probability Theory, College Algebra, Calculus, and Real Analysis.

Qualifications: Ph.D. in Mathematics, Statistics or related field; college-level teaching experience. We encourage applicants who have a commitment to the liberal arts tradition, an enthusiasm for teaching undergraduates, and an interest in fostering undergraduate research. We are particularly interested in applicants with interest in alternative pedagogy including (but not limited to) inquiry-based learning. Preference will be given to candidates with a strong background or interest in data science.

Network Administrator

Are you ready for a challenge? Want to take on an enterprise class network with over 1000 users? Quincy University seeks qualified applicants for a the full-time position of Network Administrator. In this role you will work closely with Administrative and Academic departments as well as students across campus to address their needs and support their operations.

Job Summary: The Network Administrator is responsible for daily operations and support of the campus wide enterprise network, phone system, and network security.

Responsibilities include:

  • Serve as a representative of the University, promoting QU’s mission, image, and goals to colleagues and the community.
  • Configures, maintains and administers all components of the campus network infrastructure.
  • Assists with the security of university systems and infrastructure against potential threats both internal and external.
  • Maintains University VOIP telephone network.
  • Other duties as specified by the CIO.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years experience, BS in computer science, information systems, or related area.
  • Experience with network design and management (wired and wireless)
  • Strong knowledge of Cisco devices and protocols
  • Experience supporting a large network and phone system
  • Preference given for Cisco certifications
  • Skills with DNS, Active Directory, and Microsoft products a bonus
  • Must be a clear, concise, and articulate communicator both written and verbal
  • Good customer service skills and a willingness to support the end user
  • Ability and willingness to learn new technologies and a desire to take ownership of your area of responsibility highly desired.

VICE PRESIDENT OF BUSINESS AFFAIRS & CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER (CFO)

Quincy University seeks an accomplished and strategic finance executive to serve as the chief financial officer. Reporting directly to the president and serving on the president’s cabinet, the CFO assumes a strategic role in managing the daily responsibilities of planning, implementing, managing, and controlling all financial-related activities of Quincy University, including: forecasting and supervising the campus budget, facilities and property management, serving as liaison to contracted services such as food service, bookstore, facilities, overseeing insurances and risk management procedures, and managing the College’s financial affairs. The CFO works closely with the Board of Trustees on financial planning and budgeting matters, and serves as a primary resource for the Finance, Investment, and Facilities & Technology committees of the Board of Trustees.

The ideal candidate will be gifted in proactive, hands-on financial and institutional leadership. He/she will exhibit the following qualifications.

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Accounting or Business) required
  • MBA and/or CPA desirable
  • Minimum seven years of progressive financial management and leadership experience Not-For-Profit experience required; higher education experience strongly preferred
  • Exceptional leadership and interpersonal communication skills
  • Experience in successfully leading the budget process and facilitating longer term forecasts
  • Demonstrated ability to create and interpret sophisticated analyses of financial and operational data and reports

Administrative Assistant

The Administrative Assistant provides overall support for the Office of Student Engagement and Success, specifically residence life and events.
Will perform general office administrative duties, data entry, and billing; support residence life and events; supervise student mailroom; and provide a warm and hospitable environment for the campus community.

This is a part-time position with likely hours to be 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. during fall and spring semester, and 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. during summer hours. Other hours may apply for special events.

Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach

Graduate Assistant Openings


Athletic Communications Graduate Assistant

Quincy University seeks qualified applicants for the position of Athletic Communications Graduate Assistant. This is a 10-month position on a two-year program. A bachelor’s degree is required, along with educational/work experience in the related area. The successful applicant must meet the admission requirements for the selected Quincy University graduate program.

Quincy University, located in Quincy, Ill., has a 20-sport NCAA Division II program that competes in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.

Duties:
The graduate assistant will assist in all aspects of the athletic communications office, including serving as the primary contact for several sports assigned by the assistant athletic director. Responsibilities include the writing, editing and distributing of press releases and game notes, game-day operations, including statistics and live streaming, updating all applicable social media channels, serving as a liaison with the news media, photography, video production, game-day program production and other duties as assigned by the assistant director or the vice president of intercollegiate athletics.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations or related field
  •  Previous experience working in an athletic communications office
  •  Knowledge of StatCrew Software in various sports
  •  Strong written and oral communication skills and knowledge of collegiate
  • athletics
  •  Knowledge of desktop software, including Adobe, InDesign, and Photoshop
  •  Experience in graphic design, video production and/or photography is preferred
  •  Previous use of website software (Sidearm, Presto, etc.) is also preferred
