Quincy University has appointed Ray Heilmann as Director of Campus Ministry. In this position, he will be responsible for overseeing outreach and service ministry trips, the Franciscan Service Scholarship program, and coordinating all aspects of worship at Quincy University. In addition, Heilmann will coordinate student retreat experiences, days of recollection, prayer groups, and spiritual growth opportunities for all students.

“Ray Heilmann is a perfect fit as Director of Campus Ministry.  His outgoing personality, his passion for others, his joyful and welcoming spirit exemplify well the Franciscan ethos of Quincy University.  His life-giving presence will enable him to accompany our young men and women in their spiritual, physical, intellectual and emotional development.  The QU community is blessed with Ray’s vitality and passion, which inspires others to live life to the fullest,” says Father John Doctor O.F.M., Vice President for Mission and Ministry.

Heilmann came to QU in 2012 after a thirty-nine-year career at Quincy Notre Dame High School, serving as Principal for seventeen of those years. He was born and raised on the south side of Chicago and attended Marist Catholic High School. Heilmann holds undergraduate and master’s degrees from Northern Illinois University. He completed additional graduate work towards an administrative certification at Truman State University. Heilmann and his wife, Judy, have four children and seven grandchildren.

“I am very excited to work with great people, students and staff, through the Office of Campus Ministry.  During my four years in the School of Education as Director of Student Teaching, I have encountered outstanding students and instructors,” says Heilmann. “With support and guidance from student leaders and employees throughout the university, I hope to see the QU Family continue to embrace the Franciscan values of hospitality, respect, justice and peace, service, and support for the integrity of creation.”
