"I am excited to announce our initial signing class for the class of 2012," said head coach Tom Pajic. "We feel that we found 11 solid football players that will have an opportunity to impact QU Football. Our initial signing is a good one and we will look to fill the rest of our class in the upcoming weeks."

The 2012 signing class includes seven players that were named All-Conference, five team captains, and four players that helped their teams to state playoff appearances. 10 of the 11 players come from either Illinois or Missouri and include three offensive linemen, three defensive linemen, two running backs, two defensive backs, one full back.

"We went after the best available student-athlete we could find per position in the Tri-State area. We didn't recruit for specific position needs. We recruited players that we felt played at a high level of production for their high schools and were consistent players throughout their careers," said Pajic. "Our staff did a great job early in this process due to the fact that we were not at a full complement of coaches until the second week of January."

The Quincy University football program will move to the NCAA Division II competition level in 2012 and join the newly formed Great Lakes Valley Conference in football.
