The American Red Cross will host a Lifeguard Certification course beginning March 16 at Quincy University’s Health and Fitness Center. The courses are open to anyone 15 and older. Classes are held from noon to 6:00 pm on the following Sundays:
The course combines classroom instruction and hands-on practice and covers surveillance skills, rescue skills, first aid training, and additional lifeguard responsibilities.
This American Red Cross Lifeguarding certification course will provide entry-level lifeguard participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies. Participants must be able to swim 300 yards continuously, tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs and complete a timed event that includes a surface dive and swimming 40 yards.
