QU Names Lauren Stephans as Student Laureate of the Lincoln Academy

Quincy University has named senior Lauren Stephans as the school's 2012 student laureate of the Lincoln Academy. Stephans was honored Nov. 3 during a ceremony at the Old State Capitol in Springfield.

While completing an advanced program of Honors courses and serving as president of Phi Sigma Sigma sorority, Lauren Stephans has maintained a near-perfect grade point average and has consistently been named to the Dean's List. She has been named to Phi Eta Sigma national honor society and Lambda Pi Eta national Communication honor society. She was the 2012 recipient of the Phyllis Dopp Award for outstanding Communication majors. She has also served as a reporter and editor for several campus publications including the QU alumni magazine.

The Lincoln Academy of Illinois, a not-for-profit and nonpartisan organization, is governed by a Board of Regents and a membership of General Trustees. Each year, the academy recognizes a group of approximately 50 outstanding seniors named by their institutions of higher learning throughout the state of Illinois.
