debbiejohnsonSince a very young age Debbie always loved music.  This led her to becoming a flutist/pianist in the QU Symphonic Band and Jazz Ensemble.  Upon graduation in 1995, Debbie landed her first professional teaching position as the junior and senior high instrumental and vocal music instructor for the Hamilton school district in Hamilton, Illinois.  Debbie directed the marching, symphonic and jazz bands in both schools as well as the concert and show choirs for Hamilton High School.   In 1997, Debbie began teaching for the Quincy Public School District.  Marking her 15th year with QPS in 2011-2012, Debbie educates hundreds of students as young as nine years old.  Debbie is often the very first formal instructor for elementary school students pursuing instrumental musical interests.  In addition to instructing beginning woodwinds courses, Debbie teaches second and third year instrumentalists and assists with intermediate band, 7th grade band and various ensembles at the high school level.  She is currently the director of the beginning band, 8th grade band, 9th grade band, and junior high marching and jazz groups, as well as sponsor of the Quincy High School Colorguard program.
