"I was born and raised believing in the importance of education, so being an admissions counselor is a natural fit. I love working with students and helping them strive for their goal of getting a degree."
As a student at Quincy University, Jane Cleaves had a great experience—connecting with her professors and making lifelong friendships as she worked toward a degree in elementary education. It was such a great experience, she wanted to make sure other students got the same chance. That's why she became a Quincy admissions counselor.
"I'm very passionate about Quincy," she says. "It's like my second home. When I was a student here, Quincy gave me everything I wanted and needed, and I just want to give back to Quincy and make that opportunity available to other students."
Working with students who are transferring or returning to college, Jane appreciates that each person she meets has a different educational background, needs, or goals. And that's where her love of meeting new people comes in. "I'm a talker, so I just love visiting and talking to new people. I like meeting students and their families and getting to know them and their needs," she says. Students notice—and value—this personal attention. They describe Jane as personal, friendly, and helpful, someone who builds relationships.
When she's not working with students at Quincy, Jane enjoys spending time with her family, especially her new baby and her quadruplet nephews and niece, reading, watching Nascar and football, and traveling.
