Quincy University 150th Anniversary Logo Student Competition
Purpose
Quincy University’s celebration of their 150th Anniversary will begin in the fall of 2009, and QU wants YOU to design the 150th anniversary logo! The logo will be used on the quincy.edu website, print materials, etc. The winning student will receive a $500 scholarship and will add an impressive entry to his or her resume!
About the Logo
The QU 150th Anniversary logo (1860-2010) should reflect the Franciscan, liberal arts values and principles embodied by the University (see below for element downloads). The logo will be used in all facets – from web to print - during the year-long celebration. A color design is preferred, but black and white will be considered.
Guidelines
* The logo must be completely the original work of the student
* The logo must adhere to print standards. Drawings must large enough to scan into electronic format for print use
* The 150th Anniversary Committee will choose the winning design, to be announced January, 2009.
Submission deadline
December 15, 2008
Participation
The competition is open to all full and part-time Quincy University students, regardless of major. You do not have to be an Art or Graphic Design major to submit.
Prize
$500 Scholarship - to be applied to spring ’09 or fall ’09 semester.
Submission format
Artists: Please submit a drawing on an 8 ½ x 11 sheet to be scanned for print use. Graphic Designers: Please submit your high resolution design in Illustrator or Photoshop format.
How to submit
You can e-mail your submission to logo150@quincy.edu, or turn your submission in to Travis Yates, QU coordinator of public relations, FRH 122. Please include with your submission:
Design concept/description, full name, phone number, address, e-mail, class year.
Copyright assignment
Quincy University will acquire ownership of the winning logo by assignment of copyright, and the winning designer will disclaim any trademarks and all other rights related to the design. By submitting a logo for entry in the competition, the designer acknowledges that he/she is the person who made the logo and is its rightful owner. The designer also certifies that the logo does not infringe upon the rights of any third party and that it does not violate any copyright.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What will the logo be used for?
A: Nearly everything that will be printed or posted on our website regarding the celebration of our 150th anniversary. This is the chance to see your work shine in front of a huge audience!
Q: I'm a part-time student. Am I elible for the competition?
A: Absolutely! Any full or part-time student at Quincy University is elgible for the competition.
Q: I want to work on the logo over Winter Break. Will you accept a late submission?
A: Unfortunately due to time constraints, all entries must be received no later than December 15, 2008. Better plan on working on it during Thanksgiving Break instead!
Q: My tuition is already covered. Can I use the prize some other way?
A: How about putting it towards books or fees not covered by financial aid? As long as it applies to some sort of expense at Quincy University, you can apply the scholarship however you choose.
Q: I want to use a program other than Illustrator or Photoshop. Is that ok?
A: Please e-mail the program you wish to use to logo150@quincy.edu and we'll let you know if we can accept the design in that format.
