2008 Quincy University Graduation Information
Commencement will be held at 10:30 a.m.
Sunday, May 18 in Pepsi Arena.
On or before Friday, May 2nd
- Settle your financial account with the Business Office at 228-5432, Extension 3720. Please note: Students will not be allowed to participate in commencement if they have a balance due. All tuition, room, board, fees, interest, library fines and parking tickets must be paid by this date. No transcript or diploma will be issued until the balance is paid in full. Contact the Business Office if you have any questions.
- Return books and all media to the Brenner Library.
Monday, May 12th through Friday, May 16th
- Extra tickets will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis at the Academic Affairs Office, FRH124, Monday, May 12 at 8:00 a.m. No one will be allowed more than two additional tickets.
- Pick up your academic attire (cap & gown) and tickets (5) from the Student Affairs Conference Room in the lower level of the Student Center during the following hours:
Monday, May 12 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Tuesday-Thursday, May 13-15 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Friday, May 16 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
If you need to make other arrangements, please call the bookstore at 228-5432, 3600.
ABSENTIA
You indicated on your graduation application that you would not be participating in commencement no cap and gown have been ordered for you. If you originally planned to participate but have since decided NOT to participate, please let us know immediately at 228-5432, Extension 3973.
RESERVED SEATING IN THE MEZZANINE

GRADUATES COMPLETING CLASSES AT JWCC
May graduates who will complete any final course requirements at JWCC must contact the instructor and Enrollment Services at JWCC by May 4 for an early grade release letter for grades earned in Spring 2008. (At the same time, please request a JWCC transcript to be sent after Spring 2008 grades are posted.) Please see the QU registrar immediately if you are planning to transfer FINAL degree requirements from any other school in order to complete ALL degree requirements by May 9, 2008.
2008 Schedule of Graduation Events
Friday, May 16th
- 9:00 a.m. – Report to Pepsi Arena for commencement rehearsal. Instructions will be given regarding preparation, line-up and the ceremony.
- 10:30 a.m. – Senior Brunch for Degree Candidates, Student Center, 18th & Lind; reservations are required; tickets must be picked up by May 9th in the Advancement Office, FRH039-B.
- 2:00 p.m. – BRCN Nursing Pinning ceremony at Madison Park Christian Church.
Saturday, May 17th
- 5:00 p.m. – Baccalaureate Liturgy in Pepsi Arena
(Academic attire is not worn; there is no procession; no tickets are required.)
Sunday, May 18th
- 9:00 a.m. – Brief Prayer Service for Degree Candidates - QU Chapel
- 9:30 a.m. – LINE-UP - Arrive at the Hall of Fame Room in the Fitness Center in full academic attire. Enter through the east door (off Parking Lot A). Line-up will be in alphabetic order according to school and program. Please look for the signs. You will receive a card with your name and other pertinent information. While you are in line, the reader will check the pronunciation of your name. KEEP TRACK OF THIS CARD. You MUST present this card to the announcer as you begin to process across the stage. In order to begin the procession on time, students should remain in line-up.
- Cap and Gown Return – After the commencement ceremony, return your academic attire (you keep the tassel) to the Hall of Fame Room by 1:00 p.m. You will receive only a diploma cover during commencement. We ask that August and December 2007 graduates, who have already received a cover, return the one received in the ceremony. Diplomas will be printed when all degree requirements have been met. Graduates completing all degree requirements by the end of May should call the Registrar’s Office if their diplomas are not received by the end of July.
