Safety & Security. Our department strives
to make your college experience not only rewarding educationally,
but, safe personally. Officers work 24 hours per day 7 days per week
to help with your needs as a student. This site provides an overview
of our department. We will make every effort to provide the best possible
service, safety and protection of persons and property within the Quincy
University community. This can only be accomplished through a partnership
between our department and the members of our community by working together
we can provide for the safety of our campus. It is our hope that through

Director's Biography
Steve Patterson joined Quincy University as a Security Supervisor and Health and Safety Advisor in 2004. He is a graduate of the St. Clair County Corrections Academy, the Illinois Police Training Institute at the University of Illinois, and the State of Illinois Field Training Officer Program. He has been in law enforcement since 1995, when he joined the Adams County Sheriff's Department. He served as a corrections officer for a year before becoming a deputy sheriff. He also served as Chief of Police for the Lima Police Department and Assistant Chief of Police for the Plainville Police Department.
Patterson has been awarded a Letter of Commendation for Safety and Detection of Hazardous Material Leak and Gas Leak, and the Franciscan Service Award by Quincy University. He was named Law Enforcement Officer of the Year by the Fraternal Order of Eagles in 1996.
His certifications include the State of Illinois Law Enforcement Officer Certification, Basic Corrections Officer Certification, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms First Responder to Explosive Scenes Certification, State of Illinois Hazardous Materials Awareness Certification, OSHA Certification, and American Red Cross CPR/AED/First Aid Trainer of Lay Responders Certification.
