Admissions Information
Individuals wishing to enroll in the Professional Degree Program must:
- Be 24 years of age or older and have been out of high school for 7 or more years.
- Provide official transcripts documenting all college/university credit.
- Have completed an applicable Associate Degree Program or approximately 50 hours of applicable college credit with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 or better.
Students may apply for the Professional Degree Program by returning a Quincy University Professional Degree Program Application for Admissions to the Quincy University Office of Adult Studies.
PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS
All majors within the Professional Degree Program require that the student complete a minimum of 124 semester hours of college credit that have been approved and accepted by Quincy University. This includes six credit hours of theology or religion coursework. Many associate degree programs require only 50-55 credit hours, which when combined with the 48 credit hours of the Professional Degree Program degree does not give the student the 124 credit hours needed for graduation. These electives may be completed in a variety of different ways including taking additional courses at a two-year college, taking electives at Quincy University, taking distance education or online courses which are transferable to QU, or CARE Credits.
CARE Credits
Quincy University grants credit in certain cases for practical or life experiences which are related to the academic content of a regular QU course. Such credit is referred to as Credit for Academically Related Experience (CARE credit). Assistance in making application to receive such credit is available through the Office of Adult Studies. The CARE Credit Review Committee and the Vice President for Academic Affairs review all CARE credit applications and professional portfolios.
